PAI is an independent body that maintains the Production Safety Framework — the practitioner-developed standard for deploying AI systems safely in production environments. We publish the standard, operate a rigorous certification programme, and conduct original research on production AI safety.
AI systems are being deployed in production environments at a pace that has outrun the development of professional standards. Practitioners are making consequential decisions about data governance, human oversight, and incident response without a shared vocabulary for what "good" looks like.
PAI's mission is to establish and maintain that shared vocabulary — through the Production Safety Framework — and to provide a credible, independent mechanism for verifying that practitioners and organisations meet it.
We are not a vendor. We do not sell software or cloud services. We do not accept sponsorship from model providers or cloud platforms. The framework is maintained by practitioners for practitioners, and the certification programme is operated to the same standard of rigour that practitioners would want when they see a credential on a CV.
